CNC
Milling Overview
We offer both horizontal and vertical
CNC milling with fourth axis capability.
CNC
Milling Capacity
We offer CNC milling upto 1.0m x
1.0m x 0.5m for billets upto 200kg. Both vertical and
vertical CNC milling can be undertaken, as well as rotary
milling
which is carried out on our 4 axis Bridgeport VMC1000.
Most materials can be machined according to customer specification,
including mild steel, bright steel, stainless steel, aluminium,
copper, brass and plastics such as nylon 66.
Vertical
CNC Milling
We operate 3 VMC CNC mills which
offer spindle speeds of upto 8000rpm, rapids of 30m/min,
and a choice of Bridgeport DX-32, Heidenhain TNC or Fanuc
controls. The machines have minimum increments of 0.001mm
and capacity for 1.0m
x 1.0m x 0.5m billets.
We also operate a Yang high
speed mill/drill.
Horizontal
CNC Milling
We offer horizontal machining for
billets upto 300mm
x 300mm with our Bridgeport
BPC320 CNC Twin Pallet Horizontal Machining Centre.
This allows us to undertake relatively higher volume work to
close tolerances such as thin wall machining and electronics
components. Other features include spindle speeds of upto 4000rpm
and a 20
station auto tool changer.
Rotary
CNC Milling
Rotary 4th axis CNC milling can be
carried out on both horizontal and vertical machines. This
process saves time and increases accuracy as one hit machining
can be carried that includes both milling and turning operations.
CNC
Drilling
High speed drilling and tapping as
well as milling can be carried out on our Yang high sprred
CNC drill/mill.
Boring
Boring operations can be carried
out on small to medium sized billets to customer specification.
Conventional
Machining
Conventional machining can also be carried
out on either the Bridgeport mill with DRO or the Colchester
lathe.
Materials
We have over 10 years experience in the
machining of small to medium sized billets of traditional metals
such as mild steel, bright steel and stainless steel, as well
as more exotic alloys including magnetic steels, hardened steel
and electronics grade aluminium alloys and take great care
to machine materials in accordance with customers and suppliers
